We suffered regular dowtime with Hostway UK. These were often for over an hour at a time. The host's attitude was, "no big deal". Also, because of them we have lost hundreds of pounds in lost revenue and paying for programmers when, in reality, they had set up our account wrong, repeatedly (to give one example among several, the package we are on says it comes with PHP 5 and, instead, they set us up on a much older version of PHP. They acknowledged their duplicity and I have the evidence in writing. Yet, even after countless emails and telephone calls, they didn't bother to upgrade us to PHP 5 despite charging us for it). They promise you that things will be done and then weeks later they aren't. When you raise repeated complaints they eventually do bother to fix the problem and just write a one sentence email saying "fixed," without giving a damn they have caused you weeks of stress. To show you the kind of company they are, they signed us up to their promotional mailing list even though we specifically chose to opt out of it. It took ten emails and phone calls to stop receiving their spam. The UK manager, Ibby Jalloh, is the most stuck-up guy I have ever come across in the hosting business. His attitude to all shared hosting customers is along the lines of 'just put up with what you are given'. When you complain that some of the features that Hostway boast about on their site have not been provided to you, he just does not care. You can find far superior hosts, who treat customers with respect, for half the price. Clook, for instance, have been wonderful to us. |
